Henry Moore:Two Reclining Figures: Points
Two Reclining Figures: Points, 1969
Bronze with a light brown patina
Edition of 9
12.5 x 16 cm (4 5/16 x 6 1/6 in.)

A synthesis of natural and human form, ‘Two Reclining Figure: Points’ explores the essence of form and its archetype.

Diving beneath the surface of lines and volumes, Moore references Jung’s idea of the ‘Significant Form’, transposing it to a sculptural context. Yet, the two biomorphic humanoid figures, according to Moore, should have been perceived by the viewer uniquely as forms, and not as descriptive or reminiscent.
