ANDY WARHOL: Tate Liverpool Exhibition

07 Dec 2014

This exhibition features one of the most recognisable artists of the 20th century. It illustrates the breadth, diversity and experimentation of his work. The exhibits include paintings, screenprints, photographs, video art and the list goes on.

This exhibition promotes new discussion of Warhol’s philosophies, the questioning of the traditional separation between high and low culture, and the private versus public experience. He was an artist who brought art to the masses through a multitude of media and whose work depicted every facet of contemporary life from the celebrities of the day (e.g. the Marilyn Monroe Diptych 1962) to mundane items (e.g. Campbell’s Soup I 1968). His art has deeply influenced western culture, and even now his influence can be seen in the work of leading contemporary artists such as David Hockney and Jeff Koons.

A show that is overall a definite must-see.
